Final round Derby Phoenix Steel Frame 600 Championship
Steve Says:
Croft 15-16 October
Lying in 3rd place in the championship by 19 points but knew it was going to be tough to hang on to it as Croft Circuit has such long straights and the Hornet is down on power and more suited to tight twisty tracks.
Saturday – Race One
Started mid pack in a field of 32 bikes. Had a decent start and was lying in 4th position in class but on lap 7 of 8 coming out of the last corner got on the gas a bit too soon and lost the rear end – another DNF and no points!
Saturday – Race Two
Having crashed in race one had to start at the back of the grid – an uphill battle – managed to finish 5th in class but had now lost 3rd place by one point.
Sunday – Race One and Two
Really struggled in both races unable to match the pace of the CBR 600’s – so decided just to bring the bike back home in one piece after a couple of high speed slides.
Finished the championship in 4th place. Overall had a fantastic first season of racing with some brilliant battles, loads of highs and lows – would never have dreamt of taking 6 wins in first season of racing and managed to amass a total of 19 trophies.
Mallory Park 22-23 October
With the Derby Phoenix Championship now over decided to enter the Thundersport Streetfighter 600 class as this track is the closest one to home and so more accessible to friends and family.
It was a brilliant weekend – taking 3rd place in all four races and posting my fastest ever lap around Mallory. As Thundersport is televised by Motors TV and Eurosport it was a great end to the season standing on the podium in front of the cameras.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Mike Austin of Crystal Business Finance for all his help and support throughout the season. Mike joined us at the weekend to watch his first ever bike race meeting. It was really nice to finish the season on a high and great to see so many friends and family at Mallory Park.

Round 5 Anglesey International Circuit 20 – 21 August 2011.
Arrived at the track on Friday afternoon – strong winds and rain greet us. Unable to put up the awning.
Saturday morning, the wind had dropped a little. Track was damp and we were 4th race out. Not sure on choice of tyres for a while but that choice was soon made for us when the heavens opened – wets it was then!
Having never raced in the wet before this was going to be interesting. It turned out to be a fantastic day winning both races and loving racing in the wet.
Sunday morning had brightened up with three races to do. Scored good solid points in all 3 races taking 5th, 4th and 3rd and having good battles in each race.
A great weekend and still lying 3rd in the Steel Frame Championship with two rounds to go.
